David Searle of Santa Ana, California is owner of this BVM F-100 that began life as it appeared in
the photo at top left...
click to enlarge. Fort Worth's Joey Tamez built and finished airframe as a pristine
and clean F-100. David became its owner shortly after it flew at Top Gun. David wanted the look of
a Hun "after use"...appearing as a put away wet and weary F-100.

David was inspired by photos of natural aluminum F-100's taken after returning from a mission and
before being cleaned up. F-100's have hatch and inspection panel seals which leak lubricants and gasses around their perimeter. To replicate this appearance David used oil based paint that was
originally intended for use on canvas and applied with fine bristled brushes, not a rag.

David used three colors, charcoal, white, and pewter. A slurry was applied to all spaces, panels and
access hatches across the entire surface. This was allowed to dry or partially dry then partially wiped off with solvent soaked paper towels in direction of slip stream and vertically to replicate runoff.
