Texas Scale Championships June 16/17, 2007 |
|
Lawrence Harville reports:
We have had bad flooding in Texas and this is the first chance I have had to let you know what happened at the Texas Championships. Yes, It rained both days. Yes, it was lousy weather. Yes, we would do it again in a heartbeat. After all, we are scale guys and nothing stops us -- Ok, it will slow us down. :^)
We flew 4 rounds Saturday but had no
chance to fly on Sunday. In the last round Saturday the last
pilot was Vic Larsen, flying in a steady down pour. Any normal
guy (anyone but a scale pilot) would have skipped his last
flight, not Vic! With rain drops on his glasses, Vic and I made
a good photo as we stood on the flight line. I holding an
umbrella over Vic as judges scored his flight from under a tent
.
The newest TSC competitor, Elvis Burnnell, flew an F86 turbine and landed in a gentle mist. Elvis' landing on the rain soaked runway was SCALE, it was beautiful. Of the competitors and judges NO COMPLAINTS were heard. These guys were IRON MEN OF SCALE! They wiped the water off their planes and flew, and flew and flew. I've never been prouder to be associated with a group, than these guys.
Only 360 days left until the next SCALE
CONTEST IN TEXAS. You lazy guys start building, you have no
excuses for next year.
